Split air conditioner condenser coil

Jun 15, 2016 · A split air conditioner is composed of two separate units, a condensing unit and an evaporative coil (known as a “condenser,” and a “coil” respectively in short-hand or slang). It is from these two separate units that a split air conditioner gets its name. These units are joined by a set of copper tubing known as a “line-set,” which transfers refrigerant from one unit to another.

In a split-system central air conditioner, there is an indoor unit, typically a furnace and evaporator coil or fan coil, and an outdoor unit, often referred to as the air conditioning unit. Each of these units houses a coil that is vital to the air conditioning process.

Aug 30, 2018 · The Two Types of Air Conditioner Coils. As we have noted, there are two kinds of air conditioner coils at work in any cooling system: the evaporator coil and the condenser coil. In general, what these coils do is distribute heat. So, while they are called “air conditioner coils”, they don’t look exactly like our common picture of a coil.

If you have a split AC, you most likely have an air-cooled condenser. The main difference here is that air is drawn in from the ambient space around the condenser over the coils. The hot refrigerant inside is cooled down, and the heated air is pushed out (generally through the top).

Air Conditioner Coils Air conditioner coils come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are a necessary component responsible for part of the air cooling process in an HVAC system. While there are many styles, they all perform the same basic functions.

Nov 19, 2020 · A split system keeps everything separated, splitting the hot side from the cold side. The cold side has the expansion valve and the cold “evaporator” coil. The system is placed in a furnace (or other system that handles air). The system blows air through the coil and, using ducts, guides the air throughout the building.

Temperatures outside at the air conditioner compressor/condenser: if the air conditioning system has reached steady state and normal operation, the temperature of air blowing out of the outside compressor/condenser unit will feel [subjectively] warmer than the ambient outdoor air temperature.

Your condenser coil is one of two coils that are part of your air conditioning or heat pump system. The other coil, the evaporator coil, is located indoors while the condenser coil is located outdoors (in a split system). The condenser coil is where the heat is removed from the refrigerant.
